I have read a few children’s books that deal with anger, but The Monks Make Amends by Sylvia Dorham, illustrated by Christopher Tupa, has been my favorite so far.
Book Review: Light of the Saints
I had seen a couple of little “Shine the Light” style books before, and thought it was a cute concept. Take a flashlight, hold it behind the page you are reading, and a new image appears. It works especially well when applied to the Saints! Their lives were full of the hidden mysteries of God, and their virtues shined through. Hold a flashlight to Light of the Saints by Cory Heimann, illustrated by Tricia Dugat, and holy attributes and images physically appear. It is wonderful!
Book Review: Joseph's Donkey
Educator Christine Peters recommends this beautifully written and illustrated rhyming book for children. In portraying the strength and faithfulness of the donkey, the author and illustrator also show the same virtues in Joseph.
Book Review: Christmas!
In my last blog post of the year, I have another Christmas book for you! This one is geared for your youngest littles, and is a beautiful introduction to the Christmas story. Christmas! by Maïte Roche is yet another of her simple and sweet board books, and a wonderful addition to have in our Catholic book collection
Book Review: Angels in the Air Arrayed
Time for Christmas books! I’ve been waiting all year to share A Child’s Christmas ABC Book: Angels in the Air Arrayed, having received it last Christmas, and really admiring it. It was written by Paul Thigpen, and beautifully illustrated by John Folley.
