This week got busy! Instead of a book review, here is a sneak preview from a book I’m currently working on about baptism. This illustration depicts Jesus ascending into Heaven and the Holy Spirit coming down to earth. It is drawn in the “retro” style I’ve been working on, and I hope you will find it as fun as I do! I’ll share more news about this book in the future. :)
Every time I read A Boy Who Became Pope, written and illustrated by Fabiola Garza, I get choked up. The life of this boy was more than touched by loss and grief; much more than I could imagine in my own life. But just as greatly, it was blessed by deep faith, courage, fortitude and the grand movements of God.
Meghan Bausch wrote and illustrated Saintly Rhymes for Modern Times, and I could tell that great care was taken with the lovely little rhymes that accompany each saint, blessed or venerable person. She was able to capture the essence of each of their earthly lives in two short, rhyming paragraphs- an impressive feat!
Aleesa's rosary books started as resources to teach her own children about the Holy Rosary, and going through them, I can see how the simple and clear format that she employed was a help to her family! Both books are thoughtful guides to praying the rosary.
My faith is an integral part of who I am as a wife, mother, and creative. I ask God to inspire my work so it blesses others. Right now I'm living with my family in Alaska and loving life here, the beauty of this place inspires me to be creative.
