Book Review: In Her Heart

In Her Heart Cover

Cover Art, Full of Joy, An Immaculate Heart, by Kortnee Senn

Written as a short and sweet Marian prayer book for women, In Her Heart by Kimberly Fries is simply perfect for your busy teen girls! I recall how rushed my high school years were- up at 6 am and down by 11 pm, with hardly a moment to stop throughout the day. Had this book been around then, I would have made time for a page or two of this beautiful book, to rest and reflect on Our Mother’s love for us, and how she always brings us to her Son, Jesus. For those like most teenagers who are wrapped up in busyness this book can do a world of good!

Kimberly’s book contains 12 scripture verses about Mary, along with a lovely little prayer to aid in reflection of each verse. The prayers also address Mary by several different titles, many of which are found in the Litany of Loretto, such as “Mary, Help of Christians,” and “Mary, House of Gold.”

Each reflection is accompanied by a lovely full-page illustration by different Catholic women artists. These illustrations also correspond well with the Marian titles. Full disclosure- I happen to be one of the artists! But I am in awe of all of the other artists’ works, and love seeing the variety of ways and styles that these ladies have depicted Our Blessed Mother.

If you’re in need of a Confirmation gift for a young woman that you know, or if you have a daughter who’s always on the go, snag a copy of In Her Heart today!

P.S. It also is a great book for busy moms. Ask me how I know!

ABOUT THE REVIEWER
Mom, Freelance Illustrator, and Catholic Author Adalee Hude is passionate about children's literature and gets giddy over good art. She spends most of the day with her very bouncy baby boy, evenings with her beloved Mr. H, and sneaks into her Brightly Hude Studio early in the morning, with a strong cuppa tea.
Some of the books covered here were sent to her gratis by publishers especially for the purpose of review, but are her own opinions, given with appreciation of the craft.
